How We Self-Published Our Book from Start to Finish

Publishing a book isn’t easy—but doing it independently is a different kind of journey. We didn’t have a big publishing house backing us, but we had a bold story to tell and a strong creative vision. This is the behind-the-scenes look at how we self-published our book from start to finish.

Step 1: The Story Comes First

Our book, Ding Dong Ditch, began as a screenplay. But we knew the story was too powerful to limit to one format. So we adapted it into a novel, keeping the same gritty, emotional energy that makes the film so compelling. The key to self-publishing is starting with a story that matters—something original and rooted in real emotion.

Step 2: Writing, Editing & Layout

Once the manuscript was complete, we worked through several rounds of editing. As an independent publishing team, we focused on getting every detail right—from chapter pacing to font size. We didn’t cut corners. Quality matters when you’re building something from the ground up.

Step 3: Building the Audiobook & Soundtrack

Creating the audiobook was one of the most exciting parts. We collaborated with voiceover talent to bring the characters to life and added a custom soundtrack to deepen the emotional impact. Music matters. Voice matters. Together, they created a cinematic experience for readers who want more than just text.

We’re calling on artists and musicians to join the next wave of audio storytelling. If you’re a creative looking to be part of something meaningful, this is your moment.

Step 4: Bundling the Book + Audiobook

To give readers the full experience, we offer a Ding Dong Ditch: E-Book + Audiobook Bundle. You can also purchase the Ding Dong Ditch Audio-Book or Ding Dong Ditch (E-Book) separately. But the bundle was created for true fans—those who want to read it and hear it brought to life.

You can find all versions on our official product page.

Step 5: Launching and Marketing

Promotion didn’t stop with the release. We continued to market the book and audiobook through film trailers, social content, and behind-the-scenes production updates. The key to successful book marketing is consistency. Keep showing up and reminding your audience why the story matters.

More Than a Book—It’s a Movement

At MaxVision Films, we believe books, films, and sound can come together to tell bigger, deeper stories. We’re not just selling books—we’re sharing a message. We’re offering a full-spectrum creative experience built by independent creators, for independent thinkers.
